How to DIY loose pearls?

1. If it is inlaid on a gold setting to make a ring, earrings, pendant, etc., usually the pearl needs to be half-punched, that is, the hole is punched but not pierced. If you are stringing a whole pearl necklace or wearing it as a whole chain with other accessories, you need the pearl to have a pierced hole, which is the full hole mentioned above.

By the way, due to the irreversibility of punching, any punching will reduce the value of the pearl itself (only the pearl itself, and please distinguish the value and price), especially the larger precious variety pearls. Therefore, the precious pearls in general pearl shops are all in an unperforated state, and half-holes are rarely in stock. Of course, it doesn’t matter if they are cheap or have been sold as finished products.

Simply put, undrilled holes can be made into half holes, and half holes can also be expanded into full holes, but due to the natural nature of pearls, you cannot turn the full hole into half holes, so once punched, it cannot be restored.

2. Inlaying or stringing necklaces does require some craftsmanship, but it is not a job that requires very professional skills. As long as you have the skills of ordinary people, it is enough. There are many DIYers.
